We voice for the children

GEORGETOWN – An event will be held to raise awareness on the ordeal faced by children taken away by police from their adoptive parents, recently. [VIDEO]

A group of concerned Penangites, will be holding an event to raise awareness on negative effects potentially suffered by 21 babies and children, whom had been taken away from their adoptive parents, recently.

Priscilla Ho and Aida Redza, who will be organizing the event, feels that the children will suffer from anxiety and traumatized by the ordeal of being taken away from their adoptive parents.

The event, which will be held on March 10, 2013 at Esplanade, Penang, will use art as the medium to express their concerns.

Police have been reported to have brought down a child trafficking syndicate, which was based Penang, in a various operations starting from January 7, 2013 to February 21, 2013.

Through this operations, police rescued 21 babies and children aged between a month and nine years, also arrested 43 people, most of them are adoptive parents.

The police said that the suspects would be investigated under Section 14 of the Anti-Human Trafficking Act 2007.

The children had been placed in a shelter under the care of Welfare Department.
