The High Court today sentenced a mechanic to death for drug trafficking six years ago.
Justice Datuk Ghazali Cha passed the sentence after finding that Amran Senin, 35, had failed to raise a reasonable doubt at the conclusion of the defence case.
Ghazali said Amran’s defence was merely a denial without being supported by any witness and it was impossible for Amran not to know of the existence of the package containing cannabis in the car because the drug had a strong smell.
Amran was charged with trafficking 2,741gm of cannabis at the carpark of the Restoran Nelayan Titiwangsa, at about 8.30pm on March 14, 2005.
The prosecution was represented by Deputy Public Prosecutor Ahmad Akram Gharib while Amran was represented by Muhammad Rafique Rashid Ali.
