Honda Malaysia reminded owners of its Honda City vehicles bought between 2003 and 2005 to drive to any authorised Honda 3S centre for a free rear seat belt installation in conjunction with the upcoming “balik kampung” season.
In a statement today, Honda said currently more than 50 per cent of the 25,480 units of Honda City sold between 2003 and 2005 have yet to be brought in for the free installation.
Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Yoichiro Ueno said: “Promoting road safety has always been a commitment of Honda and we urge all City owners who have yet to bring their car in for the rear centre seat belt installation, to do so soon.”
He also reminded them of the importance to send their cars for a routine service and check before driving long distances.
The rear seat belt requirement is compulsory for cars registered from Jan 1, 1995 onwards and the ruling takes effect from Jan 1, 2012 and once the ruling takes effect, passenger at the rear could be penalised with RM300 compound if they are caught not wearing seat belt.
