The cutting down of dead trees and replanting of new ones are always carried out by Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL)
for public safety and well-being of the city, Kuala Lumpur Mayor Ahmad Fuad Ismail said.
He said the cutting down of huge trees, like those believed to be more than 80 years old at Jalan Sultan Ismail would take some time.
“This is because it has to be carried out at a suitable time to avoid causing traffic congestion in the area,” he told a media conference on the Kuala Lumpur greening initiative at the Metropolitant Park, Kepong today.
Ahmad Fuad said this when asked on the cutting down and replanting of trees in the city.
On complaints of illegal scrap metal collectors, he said action would be taken against owners of premises found to operate the business without a licence.
