Tamil school receives allocation from Kedah state

The Kedah state government has allocated 3,000 acres of land for the purpose of revenue generation for religious, Chinese and Tamil schools within the state, said Kedah Menteri Besar Azizan Abdul Bakar.

The land will be given on a 30 year lease to a state government-linked company to manage.

Income deriving from the land will then be distributed to the schools accordingly.

According to Azizan, he does not want the schools to go around begging for money to fund the school’s operation.

Azizan made the statement yesterday in an event at his official residence Sri Mentaloon.

Meanwhile, at the same event, Azizan also handed over allocations for 58 Tamil schools, amounting to RM 229,000.

The amount, which will be distributed to the Tamil schools in the state, will be disbursed according to the number of students of a particular school.

Following that, SRJK (T) Sarawasthy, Wellesley, Kalaimagal and Sungai Ular received RM 10,000 respectively and the rest of the schools received RM3,500.

Azizan also explained that this allocation was for 2012 and the 2013 allocation will be given out at the end of the year.
