The 5th International Manga Award is now open for entries.

In a statement, the Embassy of Japan said a committee will select the best Manga, a Japanese comic book or graphic novel, from countries and regions all over the world for the Gold Award.

Three distinguished works will receive the Silver Award.

Entries must be received by Aug 31 and four deserving cartoonists will have the opportunity to attend the award ceremony in Japan in March next year, according to the statement.

Submission guidelines and entry form can be downloaded from the website of the Embassy of Japan in Malaysia at www.my.emb-japan.go.jp.

International Manga Award was first established in 2007 to honour non-Japanese cartoonists for their contribution to the promotion of Manga culture outside Japan.
