Police have rejected Malay rights group Perkasa’s application for a permit to hold a rally at the Titiwangsa Stadium
tomorrow.
Sentul OCPD ACP Zakaria Pagan said the application was not approved because the venue had already been booked by a sports organisation for a sports event tomorrow and on Sunday.
“Taking into consideration the information we received from Kuala Lumpur City Hall yesterday and other security aspects, we decided to reject their application for a permit,” he told a news conference today.
He said police had informed Perkasa about the matter and that they accepted the decision and would not hold any gathering at the location.
He did not say if they would be holding a gathering at another location or otherwise participating in a counter-rally to the one planned by Bersih.
Zakaria asked Perkasa members and the public not to gather at the stadium.
