The Lions roar for humanity

JOHOR BAHRU – More than RM300,000 were raised by the JB Lions Renal Care Foundation at their recent 15th Anniversary Charity Dinner held in Johor Bahru including 4 haemodialysis machines.[VIDEO]

The lions roared loudly for community work this time as more than RM300,000 were raised by the JB Lions Renal Care Foundation at their recent 15th Anniversary Charity Dinner held in Johor Bahru including 4 haemodialysis machines.

According to Tan Ah Beng, 55, the organizing chairman of this event, each new haemodialysis machine cost RM 42,000 and has a life span of about 7 to 8 years. Tan is happy that they had achieved their initial target of raising RM150,000. He added that the funds raised will be fully utilized for the patients’ welfare.

This brought cheer to the patients of The JB Lions Renal Care Foundation which currently caters for 150 patients by running 2 haemodialysis centers.  The main center at No 5 & 7, Jalan Perisai, Taman Sri Tebrau, JB has 103 patients while the rest 47 patients are treated at the branch center situated at No 5, Jalan Baiduri, Taman Baiduri, JB.

Other than providing affordable dialysis treatment to patients, this Foundation also provides financial assistance in the form of subsidized medical expenses, educational expenses of patients school going children, nominal sum as subsidy for kidney transplant and subsidies for EPREX injections.
