The charred severed body parts of a teenage girl, reported missing from home last month, were found dumped in two separate locations yesterday.

Initial police investigations have indicated the severed parts were set ablaze twice, at an area in Sungai Tiram, Ulu Tiram and a Hindu cemetery in Masai.

The victim was identified as Norrahayu Qomaruddin, 16, whose family reported her missing on June 18.

She is believed to have been lured and hacked to death before her body was chopped into several pieces and set ablaze.

The police have detained a security guard from Ulu Tiram to facilitate investigations into the murder.

Seri Alam police chief Superintendent Roslan Zainuddin said the 46-year-old suspect had eight previous criminal records involving abduction, burglary and causing hurt.

He believed the body parts were burnt twice to destroy evidence which might link the murder to the killer or killers.

“Bits and pieces of Norrahayu’s clothes and strands of her hair were found by the public about 4pm yesterday.

“Also found were a pair of slippers believed to have belonged to the victim,” Roslan told reporters when contacted.

He said the body parts were sent to the Sultan Ismail Hospital.
