KL mayor gets contract extension, to stay another year

The contract of Kuala Lumpur mayor Ahmad Fuad Ismail has been renewed for another year, The Star reported yesterday.

The contract of Kuala Lumpur mayor Ahmad Fuad Ismail has been renewed for another year, The Star reported yesterday.

The paper quoted Federal Territories Minister Raja Nong Chik Raja Zainal Abidin saying Ahmad Fuad’s contract has been extended to July next year.

“His tenure as mayor would be three-and-a-half years,” he was reported as saying.

Ahmad Fuad (right) was only given another six months when his contract expired last Dec 14. Hence, speculation rife on whether his term would be extended as he will be turning 58 next month, the retirement age.

When contacted, he told The Star that he has yet to get anything in black and white.

As a former MPSJ council president, Ahmad Fuad took over the mayor position from Ab Hakim Borham on Dec 14, 2008.
