The absence of petitions filed against the Election Commission (EC) following the recent Sarawak election has been
attributed to the efficiency and professionalism in conducting the polls.
Sarawak EC director Takun Sunggah said no one had brought up the question of inefficiency, especially on the technical aspects.
“We have conducted it (the election) very fairly and transparently,” he said at an appreciation dinner for people who had helped out at the Bukit Assek state constituency during the election.
He also said that there had been no case of workers arguing with polling agents and complaints from either side after the election, held on April 16.
Takun said only one petition was filed, by Stanley Ngitar alias Unja anak Malang, the defeated Barisan Nasional candidate for the Pelagus seat, who had alleged that the winning candidate had used money to win.
