Bukit Lagi bus terminal business operators unhappy

About 20 taxi and bus drivers as well as operators of food outlets at the Bukit Lagi express bus terminal here staged a demonstration today to protest against a move by the Kangar Municipal Council to relocate them to a temporary terminal in Kuala Perlis next month.

Bukit Lagi Taxi Drivers Association chairman Rosman Ishak, 59, said the members of his association would not move to the temporary terminal as the council did consult with them first on the matter.

“The council should have informed us beforehand prior to making any decision, in fact no official letter was given to us,” he told reporters here today.

He said they might have to ‘close shop’ if asked to move to the temporary terminal as there were other taxi operators in that place.

He said they were agreeable to move to the new bus terninal in Seriab, near here, but not to the temporary terminal in Kuala Perlis.
