The Indonesian embassy has urged police to conduct prompt investigation into the death of an Indonesian maid, believed to have been abused by her employer.
Its information chief Suryana Sastradieja said the embassy has yet to receive a police report on the maid’s exact cause of death.
“We can’t issue any statement until we receive report whether the maid died from abuse or not,” he told reporters after launching Local Simcard-Garuda at Menara KL yesterday.
The 26 year-old maid was pronounced dead on arrival at Universiti Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC) at 7.50am on Sunday.
She was brought to UMMC by her employers, a couple in their 50s, from Taman Sea Park in Petaling Jaya.
The couple had been remanded until June 11 to assist investigation into the maid’s death.
Suryana urged police to conduct a fair investigation and seek adequate punishment on the perpetrators if criminal elements were involved.
He said the case should be investigated fast to prevent it from being manipulated by the media in Indonesia.
