A homemade bomb was believed to have blown up yesterday in a petrol station toilet at Jalan Jambu Jerteh Batu 6, Jalan Kepong.
“The incident took place at 3.55pm. It was believed to be set off by an unknown male suspect who had entered the toilet wearing a helmet with a black visor and carrying a sling bag allegedly containing the explosive. Right after he had exited, an explosion was heard from the toilet,” said KL Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Chief SAC Gan Kong Meng.
“We had received a call about 4.40pm. As we arrived, we saw three mirrors that were broken, a toilet bowl and ceiling,” he added.
He said the footage from a CCTV had shown the suspect wearing a black jacket.
Cops had later found remains of drink cans wrapped in gum while the forensic team are in progress of recreating the bomb.
“There were no fatalities reported while the police have yet to identify the purpose of the unpleasant incident,” Gan said.
