RM20mil for Pantai Dalam park

Bukit Kerinchi and Pantai Dalam residents to have a RM20mil park of their own.

KUALA LUMPUR – A 41.28ha site in Bukit Kerinchi near Pantai Dalam will be developed as a recreational park at a cost of RM20mil. Federal Territories and Urban Wellbeing Minister, Datuk Raja Nong Chik Raja Zainal Abidin, said Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) has been given responsibilityto develop the area in three phases.

Development of the forested area adjacent to Bukit Gasing in Petaling Jaya includes 6.8ha, which the developer handed over to DBKL last year. “We expect the first phase to start soon and completed in three to six months,” he told reporters after visiting the area last week.

Nong Chik said when fully completed in 2016, the recreational park will benefit 200,000-300,000 residents of Lembah Pantai. “Now Lembah Pantai residents have to travel to Taman Tasik Perdana for recreational activites. First phase development is also part of the Greater KL Development Plan,” he added.

Asked about housing development, Nong Chik said the area will be conserved as a green lung for recreational activities. “We have received approval from Federal Territory Land and Mines Office in Sept after it was gazetted as a green lung. Don’t worry, no development will bedone in the area,” he added. Tender for landscaping work was opened to public and private companies from 4-27 May.
