Malaysia’s home-grown family restaurant chain The Chicken Rice Shop (TCRS) believes in the importance of giving back to the community and being a good corporate citizen
Recently it joined forces with non-profit organisation Mercy Malaysia on a fund raising drive called ‘Appetite For Change’ which kicked-off at TCRS outlet in Mid Valley, Kuala Lumpur.
“We are committed to giving back to the community we exist in. Appetite For Change is an ideal opportunity to draw public attention to the needs of local community during natural disasters like floods and landslides,” said TCRS Restaurants chairman Tunku Dato’ Mu’tamir Bin Tunku Mohamed.
About 100 tickets were sold at RM200 each where guests were treated to a hearty selection of delicious offerings from TCRS including the favourite chicken rice, curry laksa, Hainanese curry chicken, Penang rojak and Nyonya pai tee.
Proceeds will go towards the General Humanitarian Fund, which is primarily for local community programmes across the country.
Guests also had an opportunity to witness first-hand a demonstration on how the public can respond to different types of natural disasters.
Present at the launch were Mercy Malaysia president Dato’ Dr. Ahmad Faizal Perdaus, Board of Trustees chairman Tan Sri Dato’ Ajit Singh, TCRS Restaurants chairman Datuk Ahmad Ali Sazali, founder Gaik Wong and CEO Wong Kah Lin.
“We are honoured that TCRS is assisting Mercy Malaysia to raise fund in helping those in need of humanitarian aid. We hope TCRS patrons will join in this charity exercise at TCRS outlets in the country. This is a great opportunity for the patrons to provide assistance to those that are in need of humanitarian aid,” said Dato’ Dr. Ahmad Faizal.
Appetite For Change is slated to be a regular part of the calendar for both TCRS and Mercy Malaysia, with the next event to be held next year where tickets will be sold to the public so that they could contribute to the fund.
