The police can now engage other law enforcement agencies, private sector, non-governmental agencies and the public to fight crime.
Federal police human resources and corporate head senior assistant commissioner Zainal Abidin Kassim said they could collaborate with agencies like Rela, Civil Defence Department, Village Security and Development committees and the private sector.
Speaking to reporters, he said they could hold joint patrols in any hotspot area.
He had earlier officiated a briefing on the Police Five Years Strategic Plan (2011-2015) for more than 100 officers and men from Sarikei, Kapit and Mukah towns.
The comprehensive briefing was conducted by senior Bukit Aman officers. Zainal said the collaboration was one of the six strategies for the implementation of the plan to improve on the force’s delivery system and making it the premiere law enforcement body in the country.
On the police ‘Ops Payung’ , a concept involving the setting up a temporary tent or parasol to be manned by policemen in particularly crime-prone areas; he said it would be extended to more areas in the state this year.
He said it received good response from the public. The concept was first launched in February this year in Selangor, followed by Johor, Penang and Kedah.
