A pre-dawn fire that destroyed a printing factory in Kampung Cempaka on April 16 ended without casualties, despite threatening nearby homes and causing extensive structural damage. The blaze, reported at 5.43am along Jalan PJU, quickly escalated into a high-risk incident as flames spread through the industrial premises and edged towards a neighbouring residential area.

Firefighters from Damansara Fire and Rescue Station arrived within nine minutes, initiating immediate containment efforts. By 6.00am, Incident Commander Puan Najila binti Budin had assumed control, calling for reinforcements as the scale of the fire became clear. Additional fire rescue teams from Penchala and Section 7 Petaling Jaya, along with an emergency medical unit, were deployed within the hour. A water tanker from Subang arrived shortly after, bolstering efforts to prevent the blaze from spreading further. Residents in adjacent homes were understood to have evacuated in time as crews moved swiftly to secure the perimeter.
Coordinated multi-agency effort limits damage
The fire ultimately consumed about 95% of the 80-by-80-foot factory, with two neighbouring houses suffering near-total destruction. Despite the scale of the damage, firefighters successfully contained the blaze by 6.41am, preventing it from engulfing additional homes in the densely situated area.
Crews strategically positioned along Jalan PJU 1/21 and 1/25 worked to flank the fire and cut off its path to surrounding structures. The operation was supported by Tenaga Nasional Berhad personnel, who managed electrical risks, and police officers who secured the area and ensured public safety.

While the cause of the fire remains under investigation, the absence of injuries or fatalities stood out as the defining outcome of the operation. In a scenario where destruction reached critical levels, the ability of responders to protect lives and prevent wider loss underscored the effectiveness of rapid deployment and inter-agency coordination.
