NES Security Door Marketing Sdn. Bhd. (NES), a leading Malaysian manufacturer of high-quality security and safety doors, has entered into a landmark international partnership with Switzerland-based Skinrock AG (Skinrock), a global innovator in natural stone veneer technology. The strategic collaboration was formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony held in conjunction with the grand opening of NES’s new manufacturing facility in Klang.
The event was officiated by Datuk Hanafi Sakri, Deputy Secretary-General (Industry) of the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI), who commended the partnership as a timely move in line with Malaysia’s upward-trending manufacturing landscape. “By bringing together Skinrock’s expertise in natural stone technology with NES’s commitment to high-quality, design-driven production, this partnership lays the foundation for creating export-ready products that are both functional and architecturally unique,” said Hanafi. “It reflects a growing confidence in the ability of Malaysian companies to deliver differentiated solutions for the global market.”
Synergising craftsmanship and material innovation
Skinrock is internationally known for its ultra-thin, flexible natural stone veneers that are widely used in premium architecture and interior design. Under the terms of the MoU, NES and Skinrock will jointly explore opportunities in product integration, research and development, and the application of Skinrock’s innovative veneers in NES’s upcoming security door lines.
Skinrock’s founder, Uelli Stiffler, expressed enthusiasm about the Southeast Asian venture. “We’re excited to deepen our presence in Southeast Asia through this collaboration. Working with NES allows us to explore new applications and bring our material innovation to a broader market. We hope this inspires more cross-border partnerships between European and Malaysian industries,” he said during his keynote speech.
The collaboration is expected to open new dimensions in the security door market, fusing utility with artistry. Upcoming NES x Skinrock products will not only prioritise strength and safety but will also introduce a new level of design sophistication, beginning with a limited edition ‘Master Craft’s Artist’ series—a curated range of bespoke doors developed with local and international designers.
Riding on Malaysia’s robust manufacturing sector
The partnership arrives at a strategic juncture, as Malaysia’s manufacturing sector continues its strong momentum. In 2024, the industry recorded RM1.9 trillion in sales, a 4.6% increase year-on-year. This includes a notable 3.2% growth in the non-metallic mineral products, basic metal, and fabricated metal products sub-sector—core areas for NES.
NES’s new facility in Klang will significantly increase its production capacity from 800 to 2,000 units per month, positioning the company to meet the growing global demand for export-ready, design-driven security solutions. In 2024, export-oriented manufacturing accounted for 70.1% of total sales in Malaysia, and NES intends to align its expansion strategy with this trend.
With the capacity to scale, the company’s 2025 export roadmap includes immediate target markets such as Taiwan, the Philippines, and Australia. Long-term ambitions include penetrating North America, South Asia, and the Middle East, with the goal of generating RM45 million in annual export revenue by 2027.
Eyeing global presence and public listing
NES’s founder, Dato’ Sri Dom Tee, described the MoU as a catalyst for the company’s next phase of growth. “This MoU is a major milestone, but it is part of a much bigger journey. We’re not just building doors, we’re building a globally competitive brand,” he said. “Our sights are set on going public by 2028, with a market valuation target of RM400 million. With meaningful partnerships and consistent growth, we’re confident that we can provide a platform for Malaysian companies to stand tall globally.”
The company is banking on strategic collaborations, innovation, and design to stand out in an increasingly competitive global market. Through its alliance with Skinrock and its production scale-up, NES aims to boost its annual growth rate by 20% and strengthen Malaysia’s footprint in the international security and architectural products segment.
As NES gears up to unveil its NES x Skinrock product line and future collaborations, the Klang-based company is making a bold statement: that Malaysian manufacturers can marry artistry with industrial precision, and carve out a space on the world stage.
