The body of a baby was found in a grisly condition at a construction site in Desa Relau, Paya Terubong here today.
Believed to be just a day old, the baby had been dumped at the site and was left to the mercy of wild animals as the hands, legs and private parts had been bitten off.
A witness only identified as Shanvogavellu, 30, said at first he thought apiece of a banana trunk was lying there but on a closer look could not believe on what he had stumbled upon.
“I was on my way home from a restaurant when I made this shocking find. I immediately alerted the police,” he told reporters at the scene.
Timur Laut police chief ACP Gan Kong Meng, who confirmed the incident, said the body had been sent to the Penang Hospital for a post-mortem and that no arrest had been made yet.
Anyone with information on the case is urged to contact the nearest police station to assist investigations.
