A group of Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) councillors today urged the Petaling District Public Works Department (PWD) to attend numerous pending complaints on bad roads.
Ng Sze Han, Tai Cheng Heng, Loka Ng and Keshminder Singh took the federal government department to task during a press conference for allegedly claiming it ‘did not have budget’ every time the councillors forwarded it complaints.
“If they ever respond, they will say they have no budget,” said Ng, who is the MPSJ councillor for zone 23.
According to the councillors, PWD was first informed about the poor road condition of Jalan Utama, Serdang Raya back in 2008, but remains unrepaired until today.
“The Puchong Batu 14 road is frequently hit by flash floods due to its narrow drainage. The local councillor there has highlighted this many times and still no action has been taken,” Tai said.
“The street light in front of Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) too has been out of order for a long time,” he added.
Other unattended requests by PWD include a proposed pedestrian bridge linking Subang SS14 to SS13, and one from Puchong Tesco to Puchong Setia Walk.
Komunitikini understands that the district PWD’s officers have a standing invitation to attend the MPSJ’s infrastructure and building subcommittee meetings, but are regularly absent from the meetings.
Ng urged the authorities to stop pointing fingers and take the complaints seriously.
“If they do not have the budget (for these matters) a particular year, they should have taken note to allocate for them for the next year’s budget,” he said.
“But it has been three years now,” he swiped.
The frustrated councillors are now requesting for a meeting with Selangor PWD director Abdullah Abdul Rahman.
“We will be proposing this to the council next week,” Tai said.
