Gana PrakashGoogle Fi has started rolling out eSIM support for existing iPhone customers, which will allow certain models of Apple’s smartphones to use the dual-SIM technology.
ESIM support was added in April as new users can get Google Fi’s by signing up for the mobile virtual network service using the eSIM integrated into iPhone.
Users will need the latest version of the Google Fi iOS app and phones that has dual SIM functionality such as iPhone XR, XS, XS Max, iPhone 11 series, or 2020 SE.
While the functionality has not fully rolled out yet , several users managed to get it working by uninstalling then reinstalling the Fi app and signing in, after which they’re asked if they want to switch to eSIM.
Support for eSIM came with Monday’s release of Google Fi version 2.5 with users able to free up the physical SIM in their dual-SIM iPhone slots to use it. In addition to freeing up the physical SIM, the feature also promises to speed up the process of subscribing to Google Fi for future customers.
Google Fi is designed to provide a hassle-free telecommunications service with services such as international data coverage at an affordable price.
