Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department T. Murugiah has called on building commissioners to monitor problems of apartment residents nationwide.
He said this after the Public Complaints Bureau received reports on problems faced by residents of the Selangor Development Corporation (PKNS) apartments in Ampang Jaya here, risking their health and safety.
He told a news conference after visiting the apartments today, that he had directed the building commissioners to devise a mechanism to monitor cleanliness at the apartment premises.
Following this, Murugiah said, all apartment management would be monitored, and urged building commissioners to provide the ministry with a list of joint management bodies within a month.
Meanwhile, building commissioners cited failure to pay maintenance fees among 80 per cent of apartment residents, as among the reasons for the current situation.
