In their endearing effort to give something back to the community during this Ramadan, Ara Damansara Medical Centre (ADMC) together with Bukit Tinggi Medical Centre (BTMC) recently distributed 2,600 packs of bubur lambuk or porridge to several communities in their neighbourhoods.
ADMC handed out 2,000 individually-packed containers of bubur lambuk at 15 locations in the surrounding Ara Damansara, including B40 families, police stations, fire stations, mosques, schools and nearby corporate offices.
Over in Klang, BTMC gave away 600 packs of bubur lambuk to lower-income families, schools, corporate offices and others in 45 locations.
The bubur lambuk distribution program is part of the Ramsay Sime Darby Health Care Group’s RSD Cares sustainability strategy which focuses on creating stronger communities, healthier people and a thriving planet.
ADMC chief executive officer Miranda Harumal said the annual event is part of the hospital’s community engagement to benefit local residents.
“It warms my heart to see how eagerly the staff and doctors at ADMC banded together to participate in this RSD Cares initiative to show the under-served communities that we care by providing them with a healthy and hearty meal to break their fast,” she said.
ADMC’s corporate social responsibility initiative was undertaken with the support of Syarikat Beras Faiza and non-governmental organisation AraCare.
BTMC chief executive officer Jasmine Lau said caring for the community should not be just confined to the hospital premises.
“We strive to bring the same dedication that is shown to our patients out to the community. Following the recent challenging times, we hope this year’s celebration of Raya will be more special for the harder-hit communities and to start, we are heartened to be able to spread goodwill with our bubur lambuk giveaway during this holy month,” she said.
The hospitals said the distribution of 2,600 packs of bubur lambuk this year was an increase of 62.5 per cent compared to last year’s 1,600.
