Around 300 needy people, consisting of adults and also children, attended a Deepavali lunch event at Klang last Sunday.

The event was organized by the Buddhist Tzu Chi foundation, who served the 61 poor Indian families with lunch, and also singing performances using sign languages, in order to cater for the disabled among the attendees.

The event also highlighted the importance of eating vegetables for a healthy living, to which effect a documentary was also screened to the attendees.

The volunteers not only served, but some of them were spotted feeding the disabled with food and drinks.

The attendees during this event all receive monthly financial aids from the foundation, which helps them tend to daily needs.

Most of them are single mothers and are elderly individuals.

They were later given a goodies bag each that would come in handy for the festive season.

The foundation also offers free medical treatment for the poor every Sunday at its centre in Klang Sentosa, apart from paying visits to homes in order to provide moral support.

The Tzu Chi foundation, which was founded in Taiwan 44 years ago by Master Cheng, has set its foothold in Malaysia for the past 16 years.
