Battersea Power Station attracts over 5 million visitors since opening

Battersea Power Station, the iconic landmark of London, has received more than five million visitors since its public opening on October 14th last year.

Simon Murphy, the CEO of Battersea Power Station Development Co (BPSDC), expressed his excitement and appreciation for the new riverside neighbourhood that was created, which has been able to attract many visitors in the past six months.

BPSDC shareholders had the aim of giving Battersea Power Station a new lease of life and opening it up for the public to enjoy. Murphy stated that welcoming more than five million visitors has been a huge achievement, and BPSDC looks forward to welcoming more visitors in 2023. He added that there will be new stores opening, a greater food and drink offering, and unique and family-friendly events.

Since its public opening, Battersea Power Station has become a popular destination, with over 20 new shops, eateries, and leisure venues opening. Some of the new stores include Jigsaw, Under Armour, ME +EM, Kiehl’s, Hackett, IWC, Swatch, Reformation, Pinko, Bimba Y Lola, Theory, The North Face, Just Over The Top (JOTT), Penhaligon’s, The Cinema in the Power Station, David Clulow, Oseyo, Leon, itsu, M&S Food Hall and Gordon Ramsay’s Bread Street Kitchen and Bar.

Independent retailers inside Battersea Power Station have also been popular with visitors, such as the Battersea Bookshop, which has sold over 6,509 children’s books since October. Visitors have also enjoyed the “chimney lift experience” Lift 109, which has transported them to the top of Grade II* listed building’s northwest chimney approximately 7,029 times since opening in November 2022.

More brand openings will take place within Battersea Power Station and on Electric Boulevard, a new pedestrianized high street, in the coming months. Exciting upcoming openings include LEGO®, MALIN+GOETZ, Office Shoes, Bloobloom, A.P.C, NOBULL, and Bounce. The highly anticipated Arcade Food Hall, a 24,000 sq ft dining experience, will open with three standalone restaurants, including the award-winning Taiwanese restaurant BAO and cocktail bar.

BPSDC’s Head of Asset Management, Sam Cotton, has said that the new brands opening at Battersea Power Station demonstrates the project’s appeal in a challenging retail market. Visitors can also enjoy the Spring Festival, a family-friendly event that features a giant flower trail, Mobile Farm, face painting, a visit from Colin The Caterpillar™, and outdoor games. The festival runs until April 16th and is part of Battersea Power Station’s effort to continue to attract visitors to the new riverside neighbourhood.
