The Human Resource Development Corporation (HRD Corp) is set to revolutionize career advancement and boost employment opportunities by offering approximately 5,000 free courses during the highly anticipated National Training Week 2023 (NTW 2023).
The NTW aims to create greater awareness by offering 5,000 free courses for learning and development through various channels, including remote learning, physical causes, hybrid learning, and self-paced e-learning.
HRD Corp’s CEO, Datuk Shahul Dawood, announced that NTW 2023 is scheduled to take place from May 22 to 28, aiming to foster lifelong learning among Malaysians and equip the workforce with relevant skills and knowledge for future success.
National Training Week for lifelong learning
National Training Week (NTW) from May 22-28, with the objective of creating lifelong learning for Malaysians and equipping the workforce with relevant work skills and knowledge for the future.
“We hope to draw 5,000 trainers and collaborators for the NTW 2023, and they are expected to train up to 125,000 participants during the week-long nationwide training events,” he shared during a courtesy visit to Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow’s office in Komtar.
It’s important to note that all training programs offered during NTW are voluntary and opt-in, without any government funding. In addition to training, partners and collaborators will provide logistics support, training venues, and host satellite events and activities, all free of charge.
Shahul emphasized that instilling a culture of lifelong learning is the driving force behind NTW 2023. The program aims to address critical issues such as job mismatch and unemployment in the local workforce while enhancing Malaysia’s competitiveness.
Enhancing knowledge and skills development
With Malaysia currently ranked 25th out of 141 countries in human capital development according to the World Economic Forum Global Competitiveness Report, NTW is poised to bridge the skills gap and elevate the country’s standing.
To tackle the challenges of skills mismatch and brain drain, Malaysia needs a competitive workforce to maintain its position as a premier destination for quality foreign direct investment. The Graduate Statistics Report 2021 by the Statistics Department reveals that 33.9% or 1.55 million graduates nationwide experience mismatched employment opportunities.
Participants of NTW 2023 can explore a diverse range of training topics, suitable for individuals of all ages, including preschool children and senior citizens. The program is not limited to individuals; it also caters to employers, industry associations, and business chambers.
