Montfort Boys Town students shine at the graduation ceremony

Montfort Boys Town celebrates the graduation of 145 students in a ceremony attended by Ministry of Youth and Sports representatives.

Montfort Boys Town recently held a memorable graduation ceremony, where 145 students proudly received their graduation scrolls.

The event, witnessed by representatives from the Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS), marked a significant milestone for the graduates and their families.

The Secretary General of KBS, Ts Dr Nagulendran Kangayatkarasu, acknowledged Montfort Boys Town’s valuable contribution to youth development, emphasizing the importance of education and innovation in driving Malaysia’s economic growth.

This year’s graduation ceremony embraced the theme “We’re the Legend,” chosen by the graduating class to symbolize their hard work and dedication to skills training and character development, despite the challenges they faced.

The pandemic significantly impacted Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programs, but the resilient students at Montfort Boys Town persevered through online classes and examinations during various movement control orders.

With dedication and adaptability, they completed their syllabuses within the required timeframe, complemented by a three-month on-the-job training period.

Bro Robin Devasagayam, the Director of Montfort Boys Town, expressed his pride in the graduating students and recognized vocational training as the foundation for a skilled and practical workforce.

He highlighted that vocational training equips individuals with problem-solving abilities and enhances their resource utilization skills, making them highly valued in today’s job market. The graduating class consisted of 115 boys and 30 girls who specialized in programs such as Automotive Training, Bakery and Pastry, Electrical, Graphic Design and Multimedia, Hospitality, and Facilities Management.

The highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of the Scholar of the Year Award, recognizing exceptional graduates who excelled in all aspects of their Montfort Boys Town experience.

Ashvin Kumar A/L Muraley, You Wai Heng, and Niang Sian Lun Cing @ Lucy were the deserving recipients of this prestigious award. Niang Sian Lun Cing @ Lucy, from Montfort Girls Centre, expressed her surprise and gratitude for the recognition.

Ashvin Kumar shared his joy after two years of hard work, acknowledging the support of his friends, teachers, and staff at Montfort Boys Town. You Wai Heng attributed his success to the guidance and teamwork fostered by his teachers and peers. These outstanding students exemplify the values instilled in them by the institution.

The graduation ceremony at Montfort Boys Town received distinguished guests from the Selangor Social Welfare Department (JKM), the Board of Governors, teachers, and families of the graduating students.
