Sheng Tai International‘s grand celebration of Malaysia Day 2023 was nothing short of extraordinary with the launch of M Tower. The event, titled “Magnificent, Magical, Momentous Moments, Memories,” unfolded at the prestigious Encore Theatre Melaka.
The guest list was nothing short of star-studded, with Sheng Tai International’s Founder, Chairman & CEO, Dato’ Leong Sir Ley, and the illustrious beauty queen, Michele Reis from Hong Kong, gracing the occasion.
This gala event brought together nearly 500 esteemed guests, a blend of international luminaries and local dignitaries. The evening was a showcase of elegance and anticipation.
A visionary’s perspective
The heartbeat of the event was Leong, the visionary leader who wears multiple hats as the Founder, Chairman, President & CEO of Sheng Tai International and simultaneously holds the position of the single largest shareholder and MD & CEO of Yong Tai Berhad.
In her address, she painted a compelling vision for Melaka’s future. Her aspiration is nothing short of audacious – to metamorphose Melaka into an International City. Additionally, Leong unveiled her latest brainchild, the masterplan development known as the ‘City of Hope.’
The audience was electrified by this revelation and eagerly anticipated the launch of M Tower, another jewel in her crown.
Dato’ Leong Sir Ley didn’t miss the opportunity to extend her gratitude to Michele. Her creative input and invaluable contributions played a pivotal role in the conceptualization of M Tower.
The birth of M Tower
The evening’s zenith was the official introduction of M Tower, a remarkable development that seamlessly combines a luxurious hotel and exquisite branded residences. What sets M Tower apart is its breathtaking Indochine design concept, a masterpiece crafted through the collaborative genius of Leong and Michele.

Their focus includes energy conservation and a significant reduction in carbon emissions, reflecting a broader shift towards embracing eco-friendly practices.
Michele Reis enthusiastically shared her thoughts on becoming part of the M Tower project within The Sail development in Melaka. She recognized the project’s enormous potential, emphasizing that The Sail transcends being merely an iconic Melaka development; it is destined to become a landmark across Asia. Michele’s foresight suggests that The Sail will stimulate regional growth and attract investments that will have a profound and lasting impact on Melaka and Malaysia as a whole.
The Malaysia Day celebration was a dazzling mosaic of artistry and entertainment. The evening commenced with a surprise flash mob performance during the cocktail session, leaving guests captivated from the outset. The event’s highlights included a captivating fashion show, unveiling La Voile, the latest French brand under Straits Designers’ Gallery (SDG).
This showcase featured emerging talents who had recently risen to prominence through a model search organized by the Sheng Tai F Academy. The Academy provided these promising individuals in the fields of art and culture with a much-needed platform to chase their dreams.
The pinnacle of the night featured a spellbinding piano performance by Leong, followed by a heartfelt tribute to Michele through a montage video that offered glimpses into her illustrious acting career. As the montage concluded, the screen slowly parted, revealing Michele at the center of the stage. The thunderous standing ovation she received was a warm and sincere welcome from the appreciative audience.
At the heart of the ceremony lay the outdoor launch of M Tower, graced by the presence of Leong, Michele, and distinguished VIP guests. Against the backdrop of a breathtaking fireworks display, the Melaka skyline lit up, marking the official unveiling of M Tower.
