Emirates Airline has entered into a significant codeshare agreement with Batik Air, expanding its connectivity options for passengers traveling beyond Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL).
This collaboration opens doors to a wide array of destinations, offering travelers seamless access to various cities across Malaysia and beyond. The partnership, set to enhance the global reach of both airlines, presents exciting prospects for the aviation industry and passengers worldwide.
Enhanced connectivity through Batik Air
Under the newly inked codeshare agreement, Emirates passengers can now effortlessly connect to destinations across Malaysia via Kuala Lumpur. Emirates will apply its airline code to Batik Air’s flights departing from KUL to five prominent domestic locations in Malaysia: Johor Bahru, Kota Kinabalu, Kuching, Langkawi, and Penang.
Emirates is also extending its code-sharing arrangement to Batik Air’s flights from KUL to several other prominent destinations in the region, including Singapore, Denpasar, and Jakarta in Indonesia. This broader reach will undoubtedly delight passengers looking to explore diverse destinations in Southeast Asia.
In addition, this collaboration enables Emirates travelers to choose Kuala Lumpur as a stopover location before proceeding to their ultimate destinations. This added flexibility is a testament to Emirates’ commitment to enhancing passengers’ overall travel experience.
Emirates Senior Vice President for Commercial Operations for the Far East, Orhan Abbas, emphasized the significance of the partnership. “Malaysia is an important market in our Far East network, and we’re pleased to offer increased connectivity.
Through this partnership, we’ll further expand our network reach to more than 1,490 cities worldwide,” he said. The expansion of destinations reinforces Emirates’ dedication to serving a global clientele.
A gateway to the region
The collaboration between Emirates and Batik Air is also receiving commendation from Malaysian authorities. Transport Minister Anthony Loke noted the potential benefits this partnership could bring to Malaysia.
“We are pleased with the partnership, which has the potential to strengthen Malaysia’s role as a prime gateway to the region. We hope to see an increase in KLIA traffic, especially to facilitate connectivity to regional destinations,” he stated.
The partnership promises to invigorate Kuala Lumpur International Airport as a regional transit hub, further enhancing its importance on the global aviation map.
Batik Air’s Group Strategic Director, Datuk Chandran Rama Muthy, expressed pride in this strategic alliance and emphasized its significance for both airlines.
“This partnership underscores our commitment to excellence, and we look forward to welcoming travelers from around the world to experience the unique blend of Emirates’ and Batik Air’s services,” he added.
Emirates, which currently operates 21 weekly flights to Kuala Lumpur with a mix of Boeing 777 and Airbus A380 aircraft, continues to strengthen its global presence by partnering with airlines like Batik Air.
With 30 codeshare agreements, 11 intermodal partnerships, and 118 interline partners, Emirates is at the forefront of global aviation collaboration.
The partnership with Batik Air builds on its longstanding cooperation with Jakarta-based Lion Air Group and its subsidiaries, Batik Air Indonesia and Batik Air Malaysia.
