Rapid Bus enhances KL commute with bus lane trials

Rapid Bus Sdn Bhd (Rapid Bus), the operator of Rapid KL bus and MRT feeder bus services, joins hands with the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) to elevate bus travel in Kuala Lumpur.

Two pilot projects are set to roll out, endorsed by the Cabinet Committee on Road Safety and Traffic Congestion, aiming to streamline public transportation and alleviate traffic congestion.

Jalan Genting Kelang Rapid Bus lane trial

The Jalan Genting Klang trial involves 47 buses across five routes, offering affordable fares not exceeding RM2.50. With an expected time savings of up to 20 minutes, the bus lane connects seamlessly to other transportation modes, promoting efficient urban commuting.

• Commencing: November 15, 2023, to February 14, 2024
• Operating during: Morning peak hours (6:00 am to 9:00 am, Monday to Friday)
• Benefiting: Setapak and Wangsa Maju communities
• Frequency: 3 to 5 minutes
• Routes involved: 47 buses across five routes, including 250, 200, 202, 251, and 254
• Fares: Not exceeding RM2.50
• Time savings: Up to 20 minutes
• Connectivity: Seamless connection to other transportation modes

Jalan Ampang Rapid Bus lane trial

Following a 15% increase in bus passengers during the morning peak hours, the extended service st Jalan Ampang aims to attract more individuals to opt for public transportation. The initiative, with expected time savings of up to 20 minutes, contributes to a sustainable and efficient urban transport system, fostering a shift towards public transportation.

• Commencing: November 15, 2023
• Operational hours: Evening peak hours (4:30 pm to 7:30 pm)
• Route: From the intersection of Jalan Tun Razak to Jalan Rhu
• Success of Morning Lane: 15% increase in bus passengers
• Time savings: Expected up to 20 minutes

Rapid Bus chief executive officer Muhammad Yazurin Sallij Muhammad Yasin said in a statement”With the implementation of the bus lane from Jalan Tun Razak to Jalan Rhu during the evening peak hours, with an expected time savings of up to 20 minutes, we hope the benefits of smoother service and time savings will continue to attract the public to switch to public transportation.”
