IMMERSIO 2023: An immersive art extravaganza

Prepare to be captivated as Muzium Telekom metamorphoses into a captivating convergence of arts, culture, heritage, and innovation with IMMERSIO 2023.

This transformative exhibition, part of the One Shah Alam, One Destination Programme, unfolds within a 27,000 square-foot space, inviting the public from 15 December 2023 to 7 January 2024.

Curated by Filamen and powered by Yayasan Telekom Malaysia, this fifth edition embraces the theme “Waris” (Inherited), offering a contemporary exploration of Southeast Asian heritage.

An immersive tapestry

IMMERSIO 2023 embarks on a multi-sensory journey, collaborating with over 20 new media artists.

With a thematic focus on heritage, the exhibition bridges the past, present, and future through digital artworks, interactive installations, theatrical art, and modernized heritage music.

A dynamic ensemble of established and emerging artists, including Chong Yan Chuah, Izealist, Unreality Kai, Vasflow, Cerikapak, and Anwar Suhaimi, promises an enchanting experience.

The exhibition narrates Southeast Asian stories, blending tradition with innovation, and invites visitors to explore the continuum of cultural identity.

IMMERSIO 2023: Curatorial highlights

The first-floor gallery, revitalized by the Digital Technology Incubation Programme, showcases a fusion of artefacts and contemporary expressions.

Kacau Bilau creates a soundscape resonating Nusantara’s cultural traditions, while Pencak Mirage offers a mixed-reality performance depicting Silat warriors’ tales.

Wayang Kulit Animatronik introduces 3D printed figures controlled by robotics, and Super Codex engages audiences in a sensory interaction.

ATMA KIRANA by Abdul Shakir “Grasshopper” presents a digital art installation narrating the story of Rukun Negara.

The exhibition culminates in a curated fusion of technology and artistic practices, offering visitors an immersive experience of the nation’s rich heritage.
