The Malaysian International Furniture Fair (MIFF), Southeast Asia’s premier furniture trade show, commemorated its 30th anniversary with a grand gala dinner on December 8.
Attended by 500 distinguished guests, including loyal exhibitors and business partners, the event celebrated the show’s significant milestones ahead of its 2024 edition.
MIFF, established in 1995, has played a pivotal role in advancing the Malaysian furniture industry and is recognised as a global top 10 furniture trade event.
The Guest-of-Honour for the event was Dato’ Sri Fadillah Yusof, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy Transition and Public Utilities.
MIFF’s Pinnacle Achievements
Since its launch, MIFF has achieved remarkable milestones, generating cumulative sales of US$18.4 billion and attracting 182,000 buyers from 141 countries and regions.
The show reached its pinnacle in 2023, with on-site sales soaring to a record-breaking US$1.21 billion and featuring 673 exhibitors.
MIFF’s success can be attributed to its continuous growth, with foreign exhibitors joining in 1999, further enhancing its international appeal.
“MIFF started as a small show back in 1995. We worked very hard to make it succeed. Today, MIFF is one of the world’s top 10 furniture trade exhibition and the largest in Southeast Asia.
For this, I can sincerely say – without the support of the Malaysian furniture industry, MIFF will not be what it is today.” said Datuk Dr Tan Chin Huat, MIFF Chairman and founder.
MIFF Founder’s Vision and Recognition
Tan highlighted MIFF’s evolution into a global powerhouse, ranking among the world’s top 10 furniture trade exhibitions.
He also affirmed MIFF’s role as a flagship for Malaysian furniture exports, contributing to the nation’s status as a prominent global producer.
In a gesture of appreciation, MIFF presented awards to 117 loyal exhibitors, acknowledging their steadfast support over the past 10 to 30 years (1995-2024).
Seventeen companies were honoured for exhibiting for over 25 years, exemplifying commitment and resilience.
Notable awardees included Forest Research Institute Malaysia, Malaysian Timber Council, and Malaysian Timber Industry Board, among others.
MIFF 2024 is set to unfold at the Malaysia International Trade & Exhibition Centre (MITEC) and World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur (WTCKL).
With 17 halls showcasing contemporary home furnishings, office and hospitality furniture, accessories, decor, components, and materials, the event promises a comprehensive exhibition.
The strategic partnership with the Muar Furniture Association, MIFF’s steadfast supporter, remains strong, ensuring continued opportunities for the Malaysian furniture industry.
