AirAsia has announced the launch of highly anticipated fixed low fares for late-night flights, aiming to make family reunions during the upcoming Chinese New Year festivities in both Peninsular and East Malaysia more affordable.

The special fares cover routes between Kuala Lumpur and various East Malaysian destinations and will be available from 5th to 15th February 2024.

Celebrate Chinese New Year by flying home between Kuala Lumpur and Kuching, Sibu, Bintulu, or Miri, as well as between Johor Bahru and Kuching, Sibu, or Miri at a rate of RM298* for a one-way ticket.

Additionally, travel between Kuala Lumpur and Kota Kinabalu, Sandakan, or Tawau, and between Johor Bahru and Kota Kinabalu is priced at RM348* for a one-way trip. These special fares aim to facilitate affordable travel for families reuniting during the festive season.

Minister of Transport, Anthony Loke, acknowledged AirAsia’s role in supporting affordable travel initiatives, stating, “The airline’s fixed low fares initiative is also in line with the government’s FLYsiswa programme and the RM599 base-fare subsidy scheme for the purchase of one-way economy class flight tickets to East Malaysia as announced last year.”

Commitment to affordable reunions

Group CEO of AirAsia Aviation Group, Bo Lingam, expressed the airline’s commitment to supporting passengers in reuniting with their families.

Lingam stated, “We are committed to strengthening our support in flying our guests back home to reunite with their families affordably. We thank the government for their steadfast encouragement, which empowers us to continue making travel accessible for all.”

AirAsia plans to provide 134 late-night flights to seven sought-after East Malaysian destinations at fixed low rates, offering around 25,000 seats for the upcoming festive period.

The airline will also maintain 408 weekly flights to Sabah, Sarawak, and Labuan at regular fares, aligning with the government’s festive season initiative.

To enhance the travel experience, AirAsia encourages guests to use the airasia Superapp for convenient self-check-in up to 14 days prior to departure.

The e-Boarding Pass ensures a seamless boarding process. Additionally, travellers can opt for FACES membership through the airasia Superapp to access EZ Pass special lanes during airport inspections and boarding, ensuring a smoother experience.

*The quoted promotional fixed low fares are applicable for one-way travel and include airport taxes, MAVCOM fees, fuel surcharges, and other relevant fees.

*Flights with base fares lower than RM599 will be sold at the current fare. These fares include 20kg of check-in baggage. They are non-refundable and subject to specific terms and conditions. All-in one-way fares start from RM674, inclusive of government taxes, MAVCOM fees, fuel surcharges, and other applicable fees. The subsidy is valid for the travel period from 7th, 8th, and 9th February 2024.
