Majuperak Holdings Berhad (MHB) and Sabah Tea Garden (STG) have announced their continued collaboration to develop Tasik Cermin as a premier ecotourism destination in Perak.
This partnership highlights the success of sustainable tourism initiatives in the city of Ipoh.
Developing Tasik Cermin as an ecotourism hub
CEO of MHB, Syed Agil Syed Hashim, emphasized the unique experience offered by the synergy of biodiversity and the limestone landscape around Tasik Cermin.
The ecotourism center, developed in collaboration with STG, consistently provides visitors with a serene lake atmosphere and an exceptional experience.
Since its opening, Tasik Cermin has recorded an average of 45,000 visitors per month. In December, the destination set a new record with over 75,000 visitors, showcasing the increasing popularity of the site.
Syed Agil stated, “This strengthens the commitment of MHB and STG to continually improve facilities for visitors of all ages.”
Exploring a hidden lake
The CEO made these remarks during the opening ceremony of Tasik Cermin 2, which was officiated by Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Khairul Firdaus Akhbar Khan.
Tasik Cermin 2 enhances the experience by offering visitors a chance to explore a hidden lake accessible only by a fully battery-powered boat through a 130-meter tunnel.
Designed with a low-carbon concept, the boat aligns with the Perak government’s goal of strengthening the environmental sustainability agenda.
This addition to Tasik Cermin reflects the commitment to providing unique and eco-friendly experiences to visitors.
Syed Agil highlighted that the opening of Tasik Cermin 2 is in conjunction with the celebration of Visit Perak 2024, reinforcing the commitment to making Perak a preferred tourist destination.
The event was attended by Exco for Tourism, Industry, Investment, and Corridor Development, Loh Sze Yee, and the CEO of the Perak State Development Corporation cum Chairman of the MHB Group, Datuk Redza Rafiq Abdul Razak.
The collaborative efforts of MHB and STG showcase the potential of ecotourism in Tasik Cermin, contributing to the region’s economic development while prioritising environmental sustainability.
