Formula One racing star Lewis Hamilton recently made a surprise visit to Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Seri Keramat.
The Formula One serial champion inspired students and promoting the importance of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education.

Hamilton’s visit coincided with SMK Seri Keramat’s recognition for winning a responsible waste management program led by PETRONAS Chemicals Group, a subsidiary of Malaysia’s national oil and gas company, PETRONAS.
The program aligns with PETRONAS’ “Planting Tomorrow” initiative, focused on educating young minds about biodiversity conservation and sustainable living.
During his visit, Hamilton joined students in engaging STEM-related experiments, highlighting the practical applications of scientific knowledge.
PETRONAS General Manager of Brand Advocacy Management Khairul Hisham Mazlan emphasized the company’s dedication to fostering a sustainable future.
He stated, “This initiative…provides students with hands-on STEM learning opportunities…and fosters a shared understanding of our collective responsibility” towards environmental health.
School principal Noraini Ibrahim expressed her enthusiasm for showcasing the school’s eco-friendly initiatives and their focus on cultivating an environmentally conscious student body.

Hamilton shared his experience, stating, “It was a privilege to meet the students…Their enthusiasm for STEM subjects was clear…The passion for sustainability and biodiversity was also inspiring to see.”
