The flagship tertiary hospital, KL International Hospital (KLIH), heralds a new era of integrated healthcare services, poised to redefine medical excellence not only in Malaysia but also across Southeast Asia.
Anticipation and excitement filled the air as KL International Hospital Sdn Bhd unveiled plans for the RM1 billion first phase development of KLIH. With an anticipated completion slated for the second quarter of 2026 and an expected opening in the third quarter of the same year, the hospital is already making waves in the healthcare industry.
The foundation for this groundbreaking venture has been laid with the completion of substructure works, while the construction of the main building is now in full swing, promising a future of cutting-edge medical advancements and comprehensive healthcare provisions.
Setting a New Benchmark
Designed to be a 624-bed tertiary hospital, KLIH boasts the potential to expand to accommodate up to 1,000 beds. Equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, the hospital aims to provide a holistic healthcare service ecosystem that perfectly complements the wellness concept embedded within KL Wellness City.
During the official launch event, Health Minister YB Datuk Seri Dr. Haji Dzulkefly Ahmad commended the initiative, stating, “I would like to congratulate KL International Hospital Sdn Bhd on the momentous launch of the international tertiary hospital in KL Wellness City. This visionary development augurs well and complements the Government’s vision and effort to be the world’s leading medical and healthcare one-stop center.”
Dr. Dzulkefly Ahmad further expressed his appreciation for the commitment shown by KL International Hospital Sdn Bhd towards leveraging information and communications technology (ICT) and medical innovation, including robotics, to enhance healthcare services in Malaysia.
Supporting Underprivileged Communities
Moreover, he lauded the hospital’s philanthropic endeavor, as KL International Hospital Sdn Bhd pledged RM2 million to support the medical needs of the B40 community in Malaysia. This generous contribution aligns with the Ministry of Health’s mission to ensure accessible healthcare for underprivileged communities, reinforcing the government’s commitment to health equity.
Dato’ Dr. Colin Lee, Managing Director of KL Wellness City Sdn Bhd, articulated the vision behind KLIH, stating, “As we launch the KL International Hospital Sdn Bhd within the KL Wellness City, we’re constructing not just a state-of-the-art facility but infusing it with a cutting-edge healthcare ecosystem.”
Strategically situated in Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur, KLIH offers easy access to international airports, positioning itself as a regional hub for medical tourism. The hospital will feature 22 operating theatres, including provisions for robotic surgery and two hybrid operating theatres, catering to a diverse array of medical needs.
