Crocodile warning issued for Shah Alam Section 7 lake area

Shah Alam City Council warns public to avoid Section 7 lake after a crocodile sighting. Authorities are setting traps and monitoring the situation.

The Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) has issued a public warning urging residents and visitors to avoid the Section 7 lake following reports of a crocodile sighting. The council has implemented a series of safety measures to protect the public, including cordoning off the area and installing warning signs.

In a statement released on Facebook, MBSA confirmed that they had been in discussions with the Selangor Department of Wildlife and National Parks (Perhilitan) to address the situation. “As a safety measure, Perhilitan will also place warning banners around the Section 7 Lake and install traps to catch the crocodile,” the statement read.

Immediate response to viral social media claims

The crocodile sighting first gained attention after it was shared in local Shah Alam community Facebook groups on September 2. The posts quickly went viral, sparking widespread concern among residents. Responding to these claims, MBSA moved swiftly to secure the area by placing a rope barrier around the lake and posting warning signs to alert the public to the potential danger.

Selangor Perhilitan, in coordination with MBSA, conducted a site visit to assess the situation and confirmed the presence of a crocodile in the lake. The authorities have since been closely monitoring the area and have set traps in an effort to safely capture the reptile.

Authorities urge public vigilance

Selangor Perhilitan director, Wan Mohd Adib Wan Mohd Yusoh, confirmed the crocodile’s presence and advised the public to remain vigilant. He urge everyone to keep a safe distance from the lake until the situation is resolved, emphasizing the importance of public safety in the ongoing efforts to capture the crocodile.

The sighting has raised concerns among Shah Alam residents, who are now being cautioned to steer clear of the area until further notice. MBSA and Selangor Perhilitan have assured the public that they are taking all necessary steps to resolve the situation and ensure the safety of the community.
