APU AI Club earns prestigious digital tech honour

Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation (APU) Artificial Intelligence Club (AIC) has been honoured as a member of Malaysia’s prestigious Premier Digital Tech Institutions (MD PDTI) Tech Club.

This recognition was formalised during the official launch of the MD PDTI Tech Club initiative on 27 June 2024 at Bangsar South, Kuala Lumpur.

The accolade reinforces APU’s commitment to excellence in artificial intelligence and technology education.

The launch event, attended by Tech Club Presidents, Advisors, and industry representatives, also featured the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) and the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE).

The MoU paves the way for transformative initiatives that will equip students with advanced digital skills.

APU’s role in the digital future

As part of the MD PDTI Tech Club, APU’s AI Club will now have access to a wide range of opportunities for its students.

This includes hackathons, tech career days, and mentorship programmes, offering practical experience in cutting-edge technologies.

Students will also benefit from guest speaker sessions, internships, and job placements facilitated through MDEC’s initiatives.

The aim is to enhance students’ employability by connecting them with industry experts and leaders.

“The PDTI Tech Club initiative seeks to provide 5,000 students with essential skills for the digital economy,” noted a representative from the event.

With the collaboration between MDEC and MOHE, APU is strategically positioned to offer its students a robust learning experience in AI, machine learning, and beyond.

The APU AIC, guided by dedicated advisors Associate Professor Dr Muhammad Ehsan Rana, Dr Kamalanathan Shanmugam, and Dr Vazeerudeen Hameed, serves as a platform for students to explore the vast potential of AI.

Terence Lim Dao Liang, Research & Development Head of APU AIC and a Bachelor of Computer Science (Hons) Intelligent Systems student, along with Vice President Tay Jun Long, also attended the event.
