Sarawak Tourism Board hosted a warm reception for 126 passengers from the Heritage Adventurer cruise, part of Noble Caledonia’s “Wonders & Wildlife of Borneo” itinerary.
Arriving from Singapore, the visitors, primarily from Australia, America, and Britain, were greeted with a traditional garlanding ceremony and a captivating cultural performance, offering an immersive introduction to Sarawak’s rich heritage.
Showcasing Sarawak’s diversity
The welcoming event at Pending Port in Kuching highlighted the cultural diversity of Sarawak. Passengers enjoyed performances representing the six major ethnic groups of the region: Iban, Bidayuh, Orang Ulu, Malay, Melanau, and Chinese.
These vibrant presentations provided a glimpse into the state’s unique traditions and hospitality.
In addition to the cultural show, the cruise guests were treated to curated excursions, visiting iconic landmarks like Kuching City, Fort Margherita, Semenggoh Wildlife Centre, and Bako National Park.
The combination of history, wildlife, and natural beauty offered travellers a well-rounded experience of Sarawak’s tourism appeal.
Enhancing Sarawak’s tourism appeal
With city shuttle services ensuring smooth travel for the cruise passengers, their exploration of Sarawak was both convenient and memorable.
These visits not only provided unforgettable experiences but also helped boost word-of-mouth publicity for Sarawak’s tourism industry.
The “Wonders & Wildlife of Borneo” cruise, operated by UK-based Noble Caledonia, continued its journey to other exotic destinations, including Bandar Seri Begawan, Kota Kinabalu, Sandakan, Derawan Island, Sulawesi, and Bali.
The Heritage Adventurer, a 124-metre vessel, offers an intimate and comfortable travel experience for up to 140 passengers.
Sarawak is set to welcome two more cruise ships before the end of the year, reinforcing its position as a top destination for those seeking cultural richness and natural beauty.
