The Rotary Club of Bandar Utama (RCBU), in collaboration with White Fairy Sdn Bhd, held a significant community event on November 12th called “AED – Life in Every Beat” at White Fairy Badminton Court. Sponsored entirely by RCBU, the initiative highlighted the importance of emergency preparedness, health awareness, and women’s empowerment.
This inspiring day attracted notable figures, beauty queens, and community members to engage in activities promoting fitness, empowerment, and essential life-saving skills.
Promoting women’s empowerment
Organized alongside White Fairy Sdn Bhd’s beauty pageant calendar, the event welcomed 32 international Miss Cosmo World Beauty Queens, who joined RCBU members and supporters in a day dedicated to community well-being. Leading the participants was Carrie Lee Sze Kei—an actress, model, businesswoman, and founder of White Fairy Sdn Bhd—who emphasized the event’s mission of women’s empowerment and community service. Her commitment to these causes was reflected in the active involvement of beauty queens who championed the importance of health, readiness, and social responsibility.
Distinguished guests included Tan Sri Datuk M. Kayveas, former Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department; Datuk Foo Kok Keong, a former national badminton icon; and Cheah Liek Hou, a two-time Paralympic gold medalist. Their presence lent further prestige to the event, as they shared personal stories of resilience and service, encouraging attendees to contribute positively to their communities.
Fostering fitness and life-saving knowledge
The event included an engaging line-up of activities, such as a Zumba session, a friendly badminton tournament, and a hands-on CPR and AED workshop conducted by Vitafour. Attendees gained practical knowledge in essential life-saving skills, such as CPR techniques and AED operation, enhancing the community’s readiness for emergencies. Miss Evian Foo, President of RCBU, delivered a powerful speech on the importance of AED accessibility and emergency preparedness, underscoring that the newly donated AED device represents a commitment to protecting lives and fostering community resilience.
“Every beat of the heart is precious, and with the handover of this AED equipment, we are taking a powerful step toward protecting that gift. With great pleasure, we are collaborating with Ms. Carrie Lee and her 32 beauty queens of Miss Cosmo World from all over the world, whose dedication to service and compassion for others shines brightly. This partnership reflects not only our commitment but also our collective responsibility to act in moments when every second counts,” said Ms. Evian Foo, thanking all partners, sponsors, and attendees.
Building a stronger community
At the heart of the event was the donation of an AED device to White Fairy Sdn Bhd, symbolizing RCBU’s dedication to public health and safety. The device, which enhances emergency response capabilities, aligns with RCBU’s mission of equipping communities with life-saving resources. This project reaffirms the belief that being prepared can make a significant difference when every second counts, encouraging individuals and organizations to prioritize health and safety measures.
The AED – Life in Every Beat initiative underscores the strong partnership between RCBU and White Fairy Sdn Bhd to inspire health, safety, and community resilience. By focusing on fitness, emergency preparedness, and women’s empowerment, the event not only educated participants but also laid the foundation for a more prepared, compassionate community. As the event concluded, attendees left with a renewed sense of responsibility, united in the mission to keep life beating strong within their communities.
