Genting brings Christmas cheer to visually impaired guests

Resorts World Genting spreads festive cheer with a sensory-rich Christmas celebration for 23 blind and visually impaired guests from MAB.

Resorts World Genting (RWG), together with its employee volunteer programme Genting Green Generation (G3), hosted a heartwarming Christmas celebration at Resorts World Awana (RWA) on December 12. The event welcomed 23 blind and visually impaired individuals from the Malaysian Association for the Blind (MAB), marking a meaningful effort to foster inclusivity and festive cheer.

Participants embarked on an unforgettable adventure at Genting SkyWorlds Theme Park, where they explored thrilling rides like the Epic Hummingbird Flyers and Sid’s Rock ‘N’ Slide. Equipped with earpieces for guided communication, the MAB attendees were paired with G3 volunteers who provided personalized assistance. Theme Park Ambassadors enriched the experience with vivid descriptions, ensuring that every moment was engaging and accessible. This effort demonstrated the park’s dedication to accessibility, leaving attendees smiling and brimming with joy.

A Festive Feast with Musical Merriment

The day’s celebrations continued at Dewan Lanai, RWA, with a Christmas-themed luncheon featuring live performances by the Genting SkyWorlds Theme Park Entertainment team. Guests were serenaded with festive tunes, including a trumpet performance that resonated through the hall, creating a lively atmosphere.

Adding to the festive cheer, special appearances by Mr. and Mrs. Claus, alongside Benny the Entertainer—a Sun Bear mascot from Genting’s Highland Heroes—brought additional layers of sensory delight. G3 volunteers ensured that the MAB participants were comfortably served and assisted, fostering an inclusive and heartwarming environment.

Interactive Games and Thoughtful Giveaways

A highlight of the event was an interactive game session where blind and visually impaired participants used their sense of touch to identify mystery items hidden in a box. Guided by G3 volunteers, the activity encouraged sensory exploration while strengthening bonds between participants and volunteers.

The celebration concluded with a lucky draw featuring gift boxes sponsored by L’Occitane, a brand renowned for its ‘Fight Avoidable Blindness’ initiatives. Each participant also received a mini cake as a take-home memento, ensuring the festive joy extended beyond the event.
