Representing the country as Mrs Malaysia World 2024, Shalini won the coveted Best Costume Award and the esteemed Mrs World Ambassador Award at the event on January 30. Her triumph marks a significant milestone in Malaysia’s presence on the global pageantry stage.
Record-Breaking National Costume
Shalini captivated the judges with her breathtaking national costume, aptly named “Puteri Membara Malaysia.” The elaborate costume featured a remarkable 105-metre-long train, making it the longest ever created for a national costume. This extraordinary design has earned an official entry in the Malaysian Book of Records, further cementing Malaysia’s reputation in the international fashion and pageant scene.
Designed by Saran Anak Lagong from Sarawak, the costume was a striking display of Malaysia’s rich cultural heritage. The vibrant red and black ensemble incorporated intricate batik and songket motifs, blending traditional craftsmanship with contemporary artistry. The stunning creation was a true showstopper, earning high praise for its ingenuity and cultural significance.
Mrs World Ambassador 2024 Title Secured
In addition to her costume award, Shalini also won the title of Mrs World Ambassador 2024, a recognition that highlights her charisma, poise, and representation of the values upheld by the prestigious pageant. Her achievement is a testament to her dedication and the strong support from Mrs Malaysia World Sdn Bhd. National director Datin Harveen Kaur expressed immense pride in Shalini’s accomplishments, noting that her success reflects Malaysia’s growing influence in global pageantry.
Beyond the pageant, Shalini is a medical doctor from Selangor and co-runs a clinic with her husband, Dr Yuveneswara Murti. Her ability to balance a demanding medical career with international pageantry speaks volumes about her dedication, versatility, and leadership.
South African Contestant Crowned Mrs World 2024
While Shalini’s double victory brought immense recognition to Malaysia, the highly sought-after Mrs World 2024 crown was awarded to South African attorney Tshego Gaelae. Sri Lanka’s Ishadi Amanda was named first runner-up, while Thailand’s Ploy Panperm secured the second runner-up position.
Since its inception in 1984, Mrs World has been the leading international beauty pageant dedicated exclusively to married women.
