Why Penang backed the Miss Asia Global

State Tourism and Creative Economy Committee chairman Wong Hon Wai attended the final. He said the pageant helped promote Penang beyond George Town.

He said it showed off the state’s heritage, food, nature and the tourism potential of Seberang Perai.

He also stressed the value of global links. They make Penang easier to reach and open new tourism markets.

“We will continue working with airlines and industry partners,” Wong said. He wants to keep routes running and build demand. Hainan Airlines recently linked Haikou to Penang, for example.

Wong added that the pageant promotes women’s leadership and confidence. It also gave visitors a chance to see Penang.

Deputy Chief Minister II Jagdeep Singh Deo also attended. He said such events help Penang welcome visitors. “The world is here,” Jagdeep said.

Miss Asia Global 2026 chairman Datuk Seri Syed Mohamad Aidid Syed Murtaza also spoke. He said it brings people together.

Former Penang governor Tun Ahmad Fuzi Abdul Razak came too, with his wife.
