Miss Thailand is the new Miss Asia Global 2022

Eighteen-year-old Warapon Mae Yarbrough from Thailand took the Miss Asia Global crown in a glitzy Coronation Night held at the Setia SPICE Convention Centre in Penang yesterday.

Reigning Miss Asia Global World, Sara Damnjanovic, from Serbia, crowned her successor.

Meanwhile, Angelica Lopez from the Philippines took the first runner-up spot, and Miss Estonia Lisa Shefer was the second runner-up.

Angelica also won the subsidiary title of Miss Ramp Walk.

Miss Canada Christina Harb and Miss Ukraine Anna Avedenko came at the fourth and fifth place, respectively.

Five contestants made it to the final round, Miss Ukraine, Miss Philippines, Miss Estonia, Miss Thailand and Miss Canada.

Penang Tourism and Creative Economy (PETACE) organised Miss Asia Global 2022. URKlinik is the main sponsor of the pageant.

The international pageant saw the participation of contestants from more than 40 countries.

The contestants came from Brazil, Canada, Japan, South Korea, Thailand, Philippines, Finland, Australia, Bhutan, Mongolia, Colombia, Czech Republic, France, Georgia, India, Indonesia, Netherlands, Russia, Singapore, Spain, Sri Lanka and Malaysia.

In his address, State Exco for Tourism and Creative Economy, YB Yeoh Soon Hin welcomed the showcase as “bringing the world to Penang”.

“Beauty pageants are more than just a competition that celebrates unity and diversity. Realistically, pageants also puts the hosting destination to the test in terms of planning, arrangement and marketing.

“Therefore, it brings great honour for Penang to be the host city for the Miss Asia Global 2022, opening our arms to representatives from different continents for an unforgettable experience.

“As they compete to return home with the highly-coveted crown, these ladies will also indulge in Penang’s complete tourism package, made up of aromatic,” said Yeoh.

The fifth edition of Miss Asia Global took place at Gokulam Convention Centre in Kochin, Kerala, India.

Miss Serbia, Sara Damnjanovic became the Miss Asia Global 2019, followed by Leeseul Kim from Korea and Jeanyeer Ozbot from the Philippines, taking the first and second runner-up spots, respectively.

Vietnam’s Nguyen Thi Yen Trang won the ‘Miss Asia’ title.

Dr Ajit Ravi of House of Pegasus owns and licenses the Miss Asia Global pageant.
