Humanitarian activist Kuan Chee Heng, widely known as Uncle Kentang, has expanded his Ambulans Rakyat initiative with the addition of two new ambulances to provide free medical transport for the underprivileged. The launch event took place on February 27, 2025, at No. 27, Jalan PU 7/4, Taman Puchong Utama, marking another milestone in his mission to serve Malaysians in need.
With the new additions, Uncle Kentang’s ambulance fleet now consists of 24 vehicles, ensuring more Malaysians—especially the elderly and critically ill—have access to emergency medical services. His initiative has been a crucial lifeline for cancer patients, stroke survivors, and those with chronic illnesses requiring frequent hospital visits.
Public Donations Power the Expansion
The expansion of the Ambulans Rakyat fleet was made possible through the generosity of public donors. Two key contributors, Lim Liang Seng & Yap Kwee Chin, donated Ambulance VNS 2369, while Lucky Lee & Emily Lim Yu Jie sponsored Ambulance VNS 2374. These donations highlight the growing community support for Uncle Kentang’s humanitarian work, demonstrating the collective effort in ensuring essential healthcare services reach the most vulnerable.
During the launch, attendees were given insight into how the ambulances operate and their significant impact on the community. Uncle Kentang expressed deep gratitude to all donors and supporters, emphasizing that every contribution—big or small—helps save lives.
Stories of Hope and Compassion
Uncle Kentang’s work extends beyond medical transport. His Facebook page is filled with daily accounts of resilience, underscoring the life-changing impact of his efforts. One particularly moving story involved a 70-year-old woman who reached out to him with a heartbreaking request, “Uncle Kentang, can you take care of me when I die?”
The elderly woman had no family support and feared being left alone in her final days. Uncle Kentang assured her that she would not be abandoned, reinforcing his commitment to preserving the dignity of those who have no one else to turn to.
A Commitment to Humanitarian Aid
Uncle Kentang’s mission extends far beyond ambulance services. His charitable initiatives include funeral assistance, food aid, and housing support for the less fortunate. Through his tireless dedication, he has inspired Malaysians from all walks of life to contribute—whether through donations, volunteering, or spreading awareness.
His efforts continue to demonstrate the power of compassion in transforming lives, proving that small acts of kindness can create a lasting impact on the community.
