McDonald’s Malaysia reaffirmed its commitment to recognising the nation’s educators through its ninth annual Teacher’s Day campaign, with a flagship celebration held at McDonald’s Bandar Sri Damansara DT. Nearly 200 teachers from four schools — SJK (C) Damansara, SJK (C) Desa Jaya 2, SMJK Chong Hwa, and Sri Bestari International School — were treated to a day of appreciation, recognition, and joy.
The event featured lively performances, celebrity appearances, engaging activities, and special McDonald’s meals, all designed to honour teachers for their tireless contributions. “At McDonald’s Malaysia, we are more than just a restaurant – we are a place that connects people, families, and communities,” said Dato’ Haji Azmir Jaafar, Managing Director and Local Operating Partner of McDonald’s Malaysia. “Teachers are at the heart of every community, shaping young minds and helping build a better future. That’s why we are committed to celebrating and appreciating them in a very special way that we can.”
Nationwide celebrations across 300 schools
This year’s Teacher’s Day campaign is being held throughout May 2025, with McDonald’s Malaysia engaging with more than 300 schools across the country. In addition to restaurant-based events, the celebrations are also brought directly to schools, with participating outlets proactively reaching out to organise localised appreciation programmes.
The campaign reflects McDonald’s enduring dedication to community engagement, providing meaningful experiences for educators who play pivotal roles in shaping society. “Through celebrations like these, we hope to deliver more than just meals – we want to create delicious feel-good moments that bring communities closer,” Dato’ Haji Azmir added.
RM40,000 pledged for staffroom upgrades
As part of this year’s initiative, McDonald’s Malaysia is contributing RM40,000 to selected schools nationwide to upgrade staffrooms — a move aimed at creating more comfortable and conducive working environments for teachers. The effort is a continuation of McDonald’s broader Program Komuniti @ McDonald’s, which organises over 10,000 community-focused activities annually, ranging from aid for underprivileged families to appreciation events for frontliners.
Since launching the Teacher’s Day campaign in 2017, McDonald’s Malaysia has honoured educators in a variety of impactful ways, including the distribution of 500,000 complimentary meal vouchers in 2019 and 2022. Now in its ninth year, the initiative continues to champion the importance of teachers in nation-building, underscoring the brand’s belief that educators deserve recognition not just on Teacher’s Day, but all year round.
