Fabindia, the renowned Indian lifestyle and heritage brand, proudly marked its 10th anniversary in Malaysia with a celebration that highlighted its journey of growth, sustainability, and cultural preservation. Founded in 1960, Fabindia has built a global reputation for its artisanal craftsmanship, quality products, and community-driven ethos. It entered the Malaysian market in 2015 with the opening of its flagship outlet at NU Sentral.
Since then, the brand has expanded to three outlets in the country—NU Sentral, Masjid India, and Penang—under the stewardship of Datin Manjari, the franchise owner for both Malaysia and, as of 2025, Singapore. Over the years, Fabindia has become a trusted name among Malaysians seeking ethically made, handcrafted apparel, accessories, home furnishings, and organic products.
Grand celebration at Royale Chulan
To commemorate the milestone, Fabindia hosted a special 10th anniversary celebration on 28 June at the Royale Chulan Hotel in Kuala Lumpur. The event was attended by an esteemed guest list including YB Tuan M. Kula Segaran, Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department; Ms Shubashini Narayanan, Deputy Ambassador; Dato Vikness Raju; and Mr Ajay Kapoor, President – Retail at Fabindia Headquarters.
Guests were welcomed with a high tea reception, followed by a captivating opening performance and an exciting lucky draw. The highlight of the evening was a colourful fashion showcase titled “Showcasing FabIndia in Colour”, curated by Malaysian stylist Yogash. The show featured 20 models dressed in Fabindia’s signature ensembles, blending traditional Indian weaves with contemporary silhouettes, reinforcing the brand’s dedication to sustainable fashion and cultural continuity.
Looking ahead with purpose
Addressing the guests during the event, franchise owner Datin Manjari expressed her heartfelt appreciation for the support received over the past decade.
“We are honoured to have had the opportunity to bring the Fabindia franchise to Malaysia and Singapore. Today, as we celebrate our 10th anniversary, we are deeply thankful to the founder for entrusting us with this journey, to our loyal customers for their continued support, and to our dedicated staff who have been instrumental in our growth. We look forward to many more successful years ahead.”
Fabindia’s legacy is rooted in its collaboration with over 55,000 rural artisans across India, helping preserve traditional crafts while ensuring fair livelihoods. As it celebrates 10 years in Malaysia, the brand reaffirms its mission to promote conscious consumerism, sustainability, and timeless Indian design in the region.
The milestone event concluded with a group photography session, symbolising the unity and shared vision between the brand, its partners, and its customers in Malaysia.
