MBSB Bank Berhad has introduced a new international remittance service, GET – Global Easy Transfer, developed in collaboration with Wise, the global technology company specialising in cross-border payments. The launch, officiated by YB Gobind Singh Deo, Minister of Digital, marks a milestone as MBSB Bank becomes the first financial institution in Malaysia to integrate with Wise Platform, enabling customers to send money abroad directly through the bank’s M Journey mobile app.
The GET service aims to eliminate long-standing issues in international money transfers, including hidden fees, slow delivery, poor exchange rates, and lack of tracking. With this launch, customers can send money in 12 currencies—including the US dollar (USD), British pound (GBP), Euro (EUR), Singapore dollar (SGD), Indonesian rupiah (IDR), and Australian dollar (AUD)—with real-time tracking and competitive exchange rates.
Rafe Haneef, Group Chief Executive Officer of MBSB Bank, said the new service is designed to bring peace of mind to customers.
“With GET – Global Easy Transfer, we are giving families, professionals and business owners the confidence to send money abroad knowing exactly how much will arrive and when. This is what customer-first innovation looks like,” he said.
Transfers are either instant or completed within the same day, depending on the destination, and can be tracked end-to-end—much like tracking a parcel.
Supporting Malaysian families and students abroad
The service comes at a crucial time for Malaysian families, many of whom rely on overseas remittances. According to official estimates, more than 55,000 Malaysians are currently pursuing studies abroad, especially in Australia, the UK, and the US. For parents and guardians, sending money to cover tuition, accommodation, or living expenses has often been complicated by opaque fees and delays.
Usman Ghouse, Group Chief Consumer Banking Officer at MBSB Bank, said the product was designed to respond directly to customer needs.
“Remitting money should not be ambiguous. GET – Global Easy Transfer was designed to address the real frustrations we have heard from customers—extensive delays, hidden charges, and poor transparency. This partnership with Wise Platform is about offering world-class capability with local accountability,” he said.
Redefining cross-border payments
For Wise, the collaboration marks its first banking partnership in Malaysia. Samarth Bansal, APAC General Manager at Wise Platform, said the initiative sets a new benchmark for the country’s financial sector.
“This partnership with MBSB Bank represents a significant milestone for Wise Platform—our first collaboration in Malaysia, enabling at least 22 million individuals in Malaysia to send money in a fast, secure, transparent and convenient way. With local payments in Malaysia and other parts of Asia Pacific being instant, customers now expect the same from cross-border transfers,” he said.
The service is available exclusively via the M Journey app, where users can enjoy zero transfer fees during the introductory campaign. Customers can transfer up to RM100,000 daily, with pricing that is fully transparent and trackable in real-time.
The launch also reflects MBSB Bank’s wider transformation into a digital-first Islamic bank, offering inclusive financial solutions that meet the demands of Malaysians living, working, and connecting globally.
GET – Global Easy Transfer is now open to existing MBSB customers through the M Journey app, while new customers can register online at www.mbsbbank.com to access the service immediately.
