SOULed OUT’s 30th anniversary party lights up KL

SOULed OUT celebrated 30 years with Wonderfest — a day of music, food, and community spirit, capped with performances by legends and local stars.

On 27 September, SOULed OUT’s flagship outlet in Hartamas was transformed into a high-energy wonderland of music, food, and togetherness as thousands turned up to celebrate the brand’s 30-year milestone. From sunrise to midnight, the restaurant-turned-icon lived up to its reputation of being more than just a dining spot, but a hub of connection, community, and unforgettable vibes.

The day kicked off with sunrise activities that captured the essence of SOULed OUT’s diverse appeal. The ever-dazzling PEARLLY mascot welcomed guests into a vibrant line-up that included Rejuvenation Yoga, adrenaline-pumping Shadowboxing, and a thumping Coffee Rave — all before noon. By mid-morning, the energy was palpable, setting the stage for a festival that would stretch into the night.

It’s Three Cheers To SOULed OUT’s 30th Birthday

“We’ve never been about just serving food — we’ve always wanted to create a place where people feel like they belong,” said Founder Fred Choo. “Seeing so many familiar faces — and so many new ones — celebrating with us made it all worth it. This wasn’t just our milestone; this was everyone’s. We’ve built something special, and we’ve done it together.”

Music that defined generations

As evening rolled in, Wonderfest burst into full throttle with a series of exhilarating performances. The Rhythm Up Dancers ignited the crowd with electrifying showcases, followed by soulful sets from Acoustic Fourplay and Halida & Alvin. DJ Melissa Jo seamlessly raised the tempo, keeping the audience on their feet.

The celebration escalated further with back-to-back sets from Malaysia’s beloved talents, including Junji Delfino, Dasha Logan, Jordan Rivers, Samantha De Lune, Izen Kong, and dynamic vocal group Pop n’ Bop. The night reached a crescendo with the spectacular SOULed OUT Big Band, a 17-piece powerhouse that brought the house down in true signature style.

Dato Zainal Abidin

But the evening’s defining moment came when music legend Dato’ Zainal Abidin took to the stage. His rare and exclusive performance electrified the crowd, reminding everyone why his music has shaped generations. Just as guests thought the festivities had peaked, reggae star Sasi the Don made a surprise entrance, infusing the dance floor with his signature rhythms before FM1 closed the night with a rousing spin session.

Giving back through Heart & SOUL

True to its ethos, SOULed OUT ensured the milestone celebration carried a deeper meaning. Through its Heart & SOUL initiative, 20% of Wonderfest proceeds were pledged to Hospis Malaysia, The Lost Food Project, and the Dignity for Children Foundation. Attendees also contributed through workshops and donations, turning the event into a celebration of both joy and purpose.

Great Vibes All Round

From sizzling food stations and signature cocktails to stilt walkers, dancers, and interactive experiences, Wonderfest embodied the inclusive spirit that has made SOULed OUT a household name since 1996. The crowd, a lively mix of loyal patrons, first-timers, families, and longtime friends, reflected the community bond that has always been at the heart of the brand.

With nine outlets under The SOULed OUT Group — spanning SOULed OUT, WIP, and NOA — this 30-year mark signals not an endpoint, but a springboard for the future. What began as a bold idea three decades ago has grown into a lifestyle, a community, and a cultural mainstay. If Wonderfest was any indication, SOULed OUT’s best days are yet to come.
